Maybe you have finally had enough of your boss telling you what to do, when to do it, how to do it without giving you a why to do it? Maybe you have always had the entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to start your own business? You have the desire to be your own CEO but are not sure where to turn. Do you find yourself doing what everybody else does when they do not have an answer to a question. You go to Google and type in “business opportunity” or “how to start a business” and then comb through results until your head is spinning.

The Wikipedia definition of a business opportunity is:

A business opportunity (or bizopp) involves sale or lease of any product, service, equipment, etc. that will enable the purchaser-licensee to begin a business.

The fun part has truly just begun. Once you see what the definition of a business opportunity is you will then do research on the right type of business opportunity. You may ask yourself questions such as: What type of business do you want to run? What kind of support will you need? Where can you run this business from? How do you run this business?

So many questions and so much information to sort through. Remember, that this is an investment in and the research is as much about finding out what is right for you as it is finding out what is wrong.

What could make you decide that the business opportunity is not right for you? The type of business feels like it does not fit you would be one way. Maybe there is pending litigation against the business or that it is a scam dressed up as a business opportunity. Possibly you want to work out of your house and the businessopportunity requires a physical location. Making sure that what you do not want in your business opportunity partner is just as important. Combing through the web results is a tedious task but one that is very important.

The next step is to have a conversation with the business opportunity provider by conducting an interview, but also the other owners, that will become an extension of you. Are they the types of partners you want?

At TravelHost, we take pride in the process of determining fit. Is the person that is interested in being a TravelHost publisher right for our network? Are we the right type of business for the prospect? We ask these questions and many more. As important as it is to grow our network it is equally important that we grow with the right people.

Our advice is to take a really good look at the business opportunity provider and understand what your requirements as a partner as well as what the provider’s responsibilities are. Making sure that goals mutually align will help you make the best decision on whether or not to invest in the opportunity and if it is the right fit for you.
