Charlotte, North Carolina, known as the Queen City, is a Southern jewel with a one-of-a-kind flair to it. Visitors, and there are millions of them, will come to learn that this city has something for everyone. This area is a melting pot of cultures, food, business, entertainment and history. That alone is why we have chosen Charlotte as one of our TravelHost Owner Focus Spotlight markets, but those aren’t the only reasons.

Charlotte is the third-fastest growing major U.S. city and that is just one of the many reasons that Charlotte has been chosen as a TravelHost Owner Focus spotlight territory. Need another reason? 8,000 new hotel rooms are in the pipeline, with 2,000 of them to be located in Uptown, and this is all to take place through 2020.

TravelHost bring the most unique places to eat, shop, play and stay across the country and the entrepreneur that owns the protected territory of Charlotte will do the same. We have identified a few of these unique places but don’t let this list fool you. Charlotte offers an abundance of opportunities to run a successful TravelHost multi-media business while doing meaningful work for the community.

Eat

If you have an affinity for cuisine then you’ll know that North Carolina is famous for Carolina Barbecue. What is Carolina Barbecue? It is usually pork that is served pulled, shredded or chopped and typically uses a thin sauce made of vinegar and spices. Now that we’ve whet your appetite, we need to tell you where to find some. We suggest that your next trip to Charlotte include a visit to McKoy’s Smokehouse and Saloon where you’ll be able to enjoy smokehouse wings, BBQ pork platter, pulled chicken platter but leave room for dessert. Homemade coconut pie, peanut butter pie or the chocolate brownie sundae……plenty of options to choose from.

Shop

When we visit a new city we want to bring something home so that we can remember our time there. At some point during your stay in Charlotte, you’ll want to carve out time for a trip to The Sporting Gent and pick up a gift for yourself of that special man in your life. Established in 2013 in the historic Colony Shopping Center, The Sporting Gent is a combination of southern charm and sporting heaven. From dinner party attire to fishing gear to a cup of coffee while reading a book look, this is a store that has to go on your must-visit list. We happen to like the Old North State Trucker Hat to go along with Fieldstone Mountain Bear tee shirt and a pair of jeans to enjoy a slow, quiet and relaxing Saturday morning.

Play

Depending on the time of the year, you’ll be able to take in various sporting events. Visit during the summer and a trip to BB&T Ballpark, the home of the Chicago White Sox TripleA affiliate Charlotte Knights. With various promotions throughout the season, there is always a good time and reason to visit the ballpark.

If baseball is not your first choice when it comes to sports, then perhaps a visit to the Charlotte Motor Speedway is an option. Races take place during April and May then again from August to November. Be sure to check out the various experiences that Charlotte Motor Speedway offers via their racing schools.

The Charlotte Hornets of the NBA and the Carolina Panthers of the NFL both call Charlotte home and offer travelers an opportunity to enjoy basketball or football at the highest level.

Stay

You want to stay in a hotel that has history, is centrally located and provides turndown service with Ghirardelli chocolate? Look no further than The Dunhill Hotel, which is the city’s only historic and boutique hotel. Within walking distance of art galleries and museums, with the Asbury Restaurant located inside, this is more than a place to rest your head at night. The Dunhill Hotel offers various packages to ensure that your stay in Charlotte is a memorable one. Don’t wait to make arrangements.

These are just an example of the potential that Charlotte offers the person who wants to run their own business but not on their own. TravelHost Owners are doing meaningful work with their neighbors while helping travelers navigate a city that is unfamiliar to them. If you are accustomed to have friends and family ask you what are the best things to do in Charlotte and you’d like to make that a business then this may be for you.
